Multimedia Minutes: Clever Production Effects for Stand-Up

Enjoy a cleverly produced stand-up, which begins at – 1:07 in this story by KEPR-TV’s anchor-reporter Molly Kelleher.

How did Molly do it?  Here’s her response:

Bob,

I am glad you liked my standup. Here’s how I did it…

Out in the field, I filmed myself with a wide enough shot that I knew I could fit 8 of me in the screen. Then I said my standup 8 different times in 8 different positions. And I made sure nothing was in my background like traffic that would be different.

Then in the edit bay (final cut pro), I started with position one and layered each new spot on top with everything cropped out but myself. So the only un-cropped version was the very first one and everything else just popped up on top of that because I layered it on top of it. I hope that makes sense. I did a lot of playing with it in the edit bay, but it was fun to do.
